The foundation

In the Volendam Museum the history of Volendam and its inhabitants is almost tangible.

The history of Volendam is told to our visitors using authentic costumes, interiors, utensils, paintings and stories. Thanks to the design of the museum, visitors to the museum can experience how people lived, worked and had fun in the past.

The museum is also a hospitable and inspiring meeting place for our visitors and residents of Volendam. We strive to connect past and present.

The museum is in possession of a number of cultural and historical objects. Some of it has great historical and artistic value. The design and layout of the exhibitions in the museum, in combination with the collection, must create an important authentic whole of an image of 'what it used to be like' in general and specifically in Volendam. Recognized Museum

A director, Regina Schilder, has been appointed for the daily management of the museum and the coordination of the volunteers. The museum board consists of the following members: José Zuidhof (chairman), Jan Keijzer (treasurer), Cees de Boer (secretary), Dick Bond (board member) and Erik Molenaar (board member).

The museum is recognized by the Tax Authorities and registered in accordance with the museum standard. This standard consists of a number of criteria such as the Code of Ethics and the Governance Code Culture. All museum employees endorse this.

The Volendam Museum has the status of Public Benefit Organization (ANBI) and is known under tax number 0054.16.176. This includes tax deductions donations possible. The foundation is registered with the Chamber of Commerce Northwest Holland under file number 41234057. Furthermore, the new European privacy legislation (General Data Protection Regulation) is also relevant to our foundation.
