The Volendam Museum is the best start to a day in Volendam. Our exhibition about Volendam traditional costume, the picturesque atmosphere of the past, depicted in many true-to-life scenes, and the Cigar Band House, offer the perfect introduction to Volendam.

Children will also have a great time. They can even make a beautiful piece of work from cigar bands.

Tour operators

Dressed in original Volendam costumes, we offer groups a warm welcome in our museum. The Volendam Museum provides an unforgettable experience for your group.

There is a special entry and exit point for buses right next to the Volendam Museum. We are also wheelchair accessible and we also have a disabled toilet.

In collaboration with restaurant AMVO de Gastheer van Volendam, we provide a special package before or after a visit to the museum in combination with delicious coffee/tea and cake. The restaurant is located right opposite the museum.

An appointment can be made with our manager about the group visit and the AMVO package.

On request, our guides provide guided tours for groups through the museum. A short lecture about Volendam and Waterland (with or without thematic presentation with images and/or sound fragments) on specific historical, cultural and folkloric topics. A tour of the museum with or without explanation and a film presentation.

Accessibility

The Volendam Museum has no thresholds and is therefore easy to visit if you have difficulty walking. In addition to regular toilets, there is also an adapted toilet and a baby changing area.
